OK the headline's a bit extreme but I've not been on Jalopnik for a while but I have the past couple of days and...it's all boats and planes and link bait stuff. Where are the cars?
Yes there is car stuff but it seems to be in between the non-car stuff. To quote a cliché, am I wrong?

It's a blog that covers transportation, and this is a pretty slow time of the year when comes to car news. The car shows and new releases start early in the year, just hang tight, no media is very good from here til after the holidays.

Jalopnik has become a cliche. It used to be innovative, but now it's just bloated. It's like your favorite band selling out to make pop music so that it can appeal to a wider audience and make more $$

We're in the dull part of the car year. Motorsports have pretty much all wrapped up and all the manufacturers are developing their cars for this year's autoshows.
That being said, the more planes the better.

Jalopnik has never been just about cars, but now that there are all kinds of related Kinjas tied into it it has become more diverse. It's always been a car culture blog, not a purely numbers and reviews place. Whenever there are new cars, Jalopnik will cover them.

I wouldn't really mind if the FP acted like a vehicle blog instead of just a car blog (the FA stuff is fascinating), but a lot of the times it's not even transportation-related, just dumb Buzzfeed-style filler posts from other Gawker sub-blogs. There's absolutely no reason this headline should appear anywhere remotely near Jalopnik.

I agree. It hasn't gotten extreme yet, but I yearn for more brazillian one-year made car articles and stuff about safety belts and tucker torpedoes...
All planes look the same I don't get it.

Nothing that you're seeing about planes or such should be on Jalopnik FP, those are nearly always on Foxtrot Alpha or Flight Club, which are dedicated subblogs that often have articles that are linked onto the FP.

That was a cross post from Deadspin, which posts even more goofy shit than Jalopnik does. I personally don't mind, I like a bit of inane humor to go along with my automotive and sports news. The Gawker sites may be filled with questionable journalism and click-bait, but they're also very quick to report on the latest stories.
Also, nice SVTF! I had a 02 sonic blue before the Saab.

It's getting to the point where the "shared articles" outweigh the actual Jalopnik main content though.

It's time to leave the Swedish metal and move onto the General Electric J79. This is the video of J79s least likely to blow out speakers. And of course I chose to use an F-4 video because Viggen+F-4=<3 (#Viggenbait)

I totally get you, Gawker's good with that kind of irreverent humor, which is why I like sites like Jalopnik and Deadspin. But the way I look at the sub-blogs' cross-posting is like going out to a pizza restaurant, only to find the place also has Chinese, American, and Japanese food hidden throughout the menu in no discernible order. I don't necessarily mind those foods and actually really like some of them, but I go to a pizza place for pizza, and if I want something else I'll go somewhere that specializes in it so I don't have to hunt through the menu for what I want. It just clutters the front pages of the websites IMO.
And thank you, my 2003 is my pride and joy :) Sonic Blue is my favorite color for the cars (there's a dude on here with one that's just gorgeous) but Infra-Red has kind of grown on me over the years.

Gawker has had their annual "all-hands" meeting this week and I believe their holiday party is tonight. My impression is that the number of original posts have been somewhat lower across all of the blogs and there has been more output from the newbies and temps during the latter part of the week. Of course that's not based on anything scientific, it's entirely from my gut, but that's the impression I've had.

I would love to see Gawker adopt a 'subscription/newsfeed' type model, i.e. I go to Gawker and see articles from Jalopnik and FA and CarBuying because I've subscribed to them, and some sidebar promotion of other related gawker shit is okay but no more crossposting.

Looking at the articles on or shared to the FP at the moment, 12 are about cars of various kinds, 4 are about motorcycles, 1 is about airplanes/airlines, and 1 is about boats. Then there is one about drones and Local Motors, which makes vehicles that I suppose could be considered cars.

Sure, those are just types of planes. But within one category all of them are the same to me, who isn't a plane-guy.
I'd love to be one, though, I never judge people's interests, I appreciate all hobbies, but I just don't see the appeal...
These are just general war-planes. As far as I'm concerned, there's only one war plane with different colors. lol. there you go.
